Historic Joseph Aiken
Carriage House
~ The Suites ~
| These historic vacation rental
suites are located in what were once the brick dependencies that supported
the Joseph Aiken Main House in Charleston's historic Garden District. They
have been completely restored into elegant accommodations featuring: 150
year old heart pine floors; custom made cabinets, bookshelves, columns
and molding; beautiful marble bathroom counters and exposed original brickwork.
Each suite contains one and a half baths. They all have fully furnished
kitchens that feature all of the amenities for long term and short term
stays placed in custom designed and handmade cabinets with gorgeous black
granite countertops. Each suite features chandeliers that are dressed completely
with full lead crystals each of which have a lead oxide content of over
30% (the highest in the industry). Luxury is defined at its
best here and we promise that you will be both amazed at the beauty and
charmed by the coziness of the Historic Joseph Aiken Carriage House. |

|
| This suite is located on the
bottom left side of the building. It has a private ground floor entrance.
Notice it's two huge fireplaces. These give it the distinction as the original
Kitchen House, where all the food was cooked before it was brought to the
mansion to be further prepared and served. It features four French doors,
two of which give you access to a private patio where you can sit and enjoy
the evening with a glass of wine or a quaint candlelight dinner. |

|
| This suite is located in the
top left side of the building. You access this suite through the center
hall stairway. It was once the slave quarters as it is here where they
ate and slept, not in the main house. This suite has two fireplaces as
well, but you may notice that they are much smaller than in Suite A, as
their main purpose was for warmth and light. It also features five French
doors, all of which open up to the courtyard below allowing you to feel
the ever present breeze known to downtown Charleston. |

|
|
| This suite is located in the
bottom right side of the building. It has its own private ground floor
entrance. Notice the huge window that this suite features. Its beautiful
French doors and sunburst pattern were custom designed and hand manufactured
on site. It opens up to a outdoor stone patio, a perfect place to drink
your morning coffee and read the paper. This window was once a carriage
door and is where the carriage was housed when it was not in use. The bedroom
and bathroom of this suite were once stalls for the horses. You are sure
to enjoy the antique Baker bed that this suite features as we are told
it sleeps very well. The bathroom is also handicap accessible. |

|
| Often times picked as the favorite
by many, you access this suite through the center hall stairway. It was
once the hayloft. It was here that the hay, tack and feed for the horses
were stored. It features two French doors, both of which open to the courtyard
and allow you the best views of the grounds of this historic property.
It is here that you will enjoy sleeping in one of our most exquisite antique
pieces. |
